Paul Maar is a famous and well-known children's and young adult's fiction writer (“Eine Woche voller Samstage” [A week of Saturdays], “Lippels Traum” [Lippel's dream], “Herr Bello” [Mr. Bello]). He also writes theatre plays (e.g. “Kikerikikiste”, “In einem tiefen dunklen Wald”, for which he received the Bavarian Theatre Prize), film screenplays (e.g. “Das Sams”, for which he received the German Film Prize in gold and the Bavarian Film Prize) and screenplays for TV productions (e.g. “Siebenstein”).
Paul Maar's books have won various awards, for example the German Youth Literature Price for his complete works and also the Austrian State Prize, the German Book Prize, the E.T.A. Hoffmann-Prize and the Brothers-Grimm-Prize. His theatre plays and books have been translated into more than 30 languages.
Paul Maar also works as an illustrator, illustrating his own books and those of other authors. His picture stories have been printed in German (“Stern”), Swiss (“Die schweizer Familie”) and Dutch (“Jippo”) magazines. His children's books are published by the publishing house Oetinger in Hamburg and can also be obtained at any book store.
